What we treat
Nail surgery—not general chiropody.
We provide partial or total permanent removal of troublesome toenails. A partial nail avulsion removes only the painful edge, while a total nail avulsion removes the complete nail. Treatment is also available for severely damaged or fungal nails when removal is appropriate.

The procedure, explained

What to expect
About 35 minutes. Walk in, walk out.
On arrival, you’ll complete a short medical assessment covering medication and allergies. We inspect the toe and agree whether partial or total removal is best.
After the toe is numb, the nail section is removed and phenol is applied at the base to reduce the chance of regrowth. A larger dressing stays in place for the first 24 hours.
Bring flip-flops or roomy open footwear. Put your feet up for the rest of the day. Full healing generally takes 4–6 weeks for partial removal and 6–8 weeks for total removal.

Your procedure is performed by an experienced podiatrist who is HCPC registered and a member of the Royal College of Podiatry, with nail surgery experience in private practice and the NHS.

Is nail surgery painful?
The local anaesthetic feels like a brief pinch. Once numb, you should not feel the procedure. The toe generally remains numb for two to three hours.
How soon can I return to work?
Most people return the following day. Avoid excessive pressure, impact and strenuous activity while the toe heals.
Can I drive afterwards?
It is advisable not to drive until the anaesthetic has worn off. Ideally, arrange for someone to take you home.
Do you provide routine chiropody?
No. This clinic specialises solely in nail surgery. We do not treat corns, verrucas or provide routine nail cutting.
